Meeker & Associates was presented with the challenge of creating a wayfinding sign program for thirteen towns and cities along the historic Hudson River from Yonkers to Peekskill. The assignment was to advance awareness and access to the waterfront and improve wayfinding to historic and recreational destinations, enhance the streetscape of the region, and become a catalyst for other physical improvement initiatives. The design of the trailblazer is influenced by the design of colonial tavern signs with distinctive black border and gold type. A simple symbol program was designed for primary destinations with muted old-style colors.
